DIVE INTO THE HEART OF CIC’S MISSION

Pulaski Day is an Illinois holiday commemorating the life of Casimir Pulaski, a Polish-born hero of the American Revolutionary War. Pulaski was a freedom fighter in Russian-occupied Poland who came to America in 1777 to fight for the Continental Army. He was a leader in the American cavalry and is known as "the father of the American cavalry." He was wounded in battle and died on October 11, 1779, in Savannah.

Members were proud to march in the May 3rd Parade celebrating the 233rd anniversary of the adoption of the May 3, 1791 Constitution by the last King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania Stanisław August Poniatowski. The May Constitution introduced, among other things, the principle of the tripartite separation of power, and reformed the existing political system ensuring more equal treatment of all nationalities within the Commonwealth.  Poland became Europe’s first and the world’s second that passed the basic progressive and bold legal act that initiated a number of reforms.  The Constitution also expressed the nation’s will to defend Poland’s independence following its first partition by Austria, Prussia and Russia in 1772.

The Lira Ensemble hosted its Polish and Proud performance at St. Cyril & Methodius Parish in Lemont. To support the Lira to kick off a greater appreciation for Polish culture, please see pictures from the performance.

The Polish Museum of America (PMA) hosted its 44th Annual Summer Gala, a celebration of Polish heritage and culture on June 14th, 2024, at the prestigious O’Hare Tech Center in Schiller Park, Illinois.

CIC assisted the Board in offering its four seminars and award ceremonies during the past decade

Cliff Dwellers Club: The CIC President and Secretary attended the holiday dinner and slide show (where Conrad has been a speaker over the years) to consider the site as a location for future CIC meetings or socials.
